Stoecker Farms Community Supported Agriculture (CSA)
HAVE YOU CONSIDERED A CSA? Community Supported Agriculture is an opportunity for you to purchase fresh food directly from a local farm. You purchase a "share" of the farm's produce prior to the growing season. In turn, you as the shareholder, receive weekly distributions of produce as the season progresses. Fresh safe food is becoming a scarcity in our lives. The majority of the vegetables in today's grocery store has traveled on average 1300 miles from the source and are several days old before reaching the store self. This is one of many hidden costs in today's food system. When you buy local you are assured of fresh food, you are supporting local agriculture and are keeping purchasing power in our local economy.
How does it work? Each week you will receive enough fresh produce to feed your family for a week. You will have a once a week pickup to receive your box and recipes. Each week you will also receive a bonus in addition to the featured items. Bonus items will be items that are in season, at their peak and we have extra for the week over and above our orders. For example: a weekly box could include: 2 bunches of broccoli, a quart of tomatoes, 3 bell peppers, zucchini, bonus eggplant or okra. Another week could be : tomatoes, cabbage, cucumbers, peppers, and potatoes, bonus: Swiss chard. Some weeks you will be given a choice between several different items. You might not need tomatoes but would like to get extra zucchini or cucumbers you could trade in your tomatoes for extra on the bonus as long as your switches equal the share amount.
